Dervla Murphy Award for Teenage Travel Writing

2011 is the inaugural year of the Dervla Murphy Award for Teenage Travel Writing. The award will be sponsored annually by the Waterford County Council Library Service and presented as part of the Immrama Festival of Travel Writing in Lismore. The winning piece will be published online on the library service website.

The competition is confined to teenagers aged between 13 and18 years from Waterford city and county. Only pieces that have not been previously printed or published are eligible for the award. Competition pieces must not exceed 500 words; a typed copy is preferred but not essential.

Competition entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form which is available for download from www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie or can be picked up from your local library.

Competition entries and completed forms can be sent to Anne Walsh, Waterford County Council Library Service, Ballyanchor Road, Lismore, County Waterford or emailed to annwalsh@waterfordcoco.ie

Closing date for entries is Friday 27th May 2011.
