Kids Go Free at Lismore Heritage Centre

Lismore Heritage Centre is just the spot for families on holiday this year because for summer 2010 kids go free at Lismore Heritage Centre! Adults taking a town tour or enjoying The Lismore Experience audio-visual show can be accompanied by children at no extra cost.

A walking tour of Lismore is a great way to get acquainted with the formidable history of this picturesque heritage town. Hear of Viking raids, treasure hidden in castle walls and the saints who studied at the University of Lismore. See where Fred Astaire supped Guinness on his holidays and what Thackeray described as “some of the most beautiful rich country ever seen." A town tour with one of the Heritage Centre’s guides costs just €5.00 for adults. Tours are available at 11.00am and 15.00pm daily.

If you prefer to soak up your history while sitting comfortably (or if the Irish summer is living up to its bad reputation) you can visit the Heritage Centre itself. The Lismore Experience, our audio visual presentation, serves as a wonderful introduction to Lismore’s illustrious past and suggests some other interesting places to visit in the area. The Lismore-born ‘Father of Modern Chemistry’ is honoured in the Robert Boyle Science Room and retail therapy is available in The Craft Shop. Admission to The Lismore Experience and the historical galleries at the Heritage Centre is €5.00 for adults.
Lismore Heritage Centre is open from 9.30am-17.30pm on weekdays, 11.00am-17.00pm Saturdays and 12.00pm-17.00pm on Sundays. If you would like any further information please call 058-5497
