14th March: Devonshire Day at Lismore Castle


Sunday 14th March is Devonshire Day. Once a year Lismore Castle opens its gates and invites guests to a guided pre-view of its spring gardens and to cream tea served in the Pugin banqueting hall
.
Tours of the grounds are conducted by Mr Christopher Tull, Head Gardener at the Castle. Devonshire Day visitors can then enjoy their complimentary visit to the exhibition galleries and the audio-visual Lismore Experience at Lismore Heritage Centre to marvel at the remarkable history in which the castle and town are steeped
.

Devonshire Day comprises five sessions beginning at 11.30am, 12.40pm, 1.50pm, 3.00pm and 4.10pm respectively. Places are strictly limited and pre-booking is essential
.
Tickets cost €20.00. A small number of family tickets (two adults and two children aged 10-15 years) are available for the 11.30am tour priced €50.00.

Devonshire Day is a fundraising event for the Immrama Festival of Travel Writing 10th-13th June 2010.
